New upstairs addition

One of the areas I am really excited about with our renovations is up on the second floor.

Before all the crazy demolition began, once you went up steps there was just a walkway to a bedroom. Now we have knocked down the wall and opened it up and gained a great space where the kids can hang out.

The architect called this space a Play Area.  As a parent, I see this space being a great place for the kids to do their homework.  It has a great view too!

Bathroom demo

We are expanding the size of our first floor bathroom.   Our bedroom closet is adjacent to the bathroom, so we are taking out the wall and adding the space to the bathroom.

To replace the closet we are adding a new walk-in closet to side of our room / house.

Second floor - back of house

Our home is a cape cod style.  On the second floor the finished rooms were located just in the middle of the floor where the ceilings were tallest.  This left the other areas as attic space.

As part of our home addition and remodeling project we are taking advantage of these spaces by making half of the second floor to have full height walls.

We will be adding a bathroom and bedroom in the back.  In the front of the house it will be an open space for the kids to use as a study or hang out area.

Walls going up

The workers got the floor installed and began building the new walls of our dining room and mud room.

Building the new floor

The workers started building the new floor on the addition.

Foundation backfilling

The next step in the house building....backfilling the wall with sand.

We have an egress window well on the new basement wall.   This will allow us to possibly add a bedroom in the future.
